Teeth Whitening

Everyone wants a bright white smile, and we are here to help you achieve just that!  Here are a few tips to help you put your best smile on!

First, start with clean, decay-free teeth.  This means having a professional cleaning so we can make sure your teeth are stain-free, and more importantly you are cavity free!  Teeth pick up stains from foods we like including wine, coffee, tea, dark sodas, etc.  Removing those stains before beginning any whitening treatment really helps.

There are numerous whitening products available.  Most work to some degree.  The teeth whitening systems that are done in the actual dental office can cause extreme sensitivity and fade quickly, Dr. Chris recommends an at home teeth whitening treatment.  It is usually less costly and works really well.  Our custom trays are made in our office and fit perfectly to your teeth and are designed specifically for your smile.  We supply you with syringes of teeth whitening gel that is applied to the custom trays and is worn at your convenience.

There are also many over-the-counter products that work just fine.  The difference is they are one-size fits all and tend to slide around on your teeth.  If that does not concern you, products like Crest White Strips or Opalescence To Go Trays are good products.

It is important to remember if you have any fillings on your front teeth, they will not whiten with a teeth whitening product.  Sometimes the fillings need to be replaced after whitening so you have a natural bright smile you can be proud to show off!  If you are interested in teeth whitening, ask Dr. Chris or one of our hygienists Jan or Angela to recommend options at your next appointment.
