Where Real Relationships Define Your Care

Dr. Hungerford's Family

A Note From Dr. Hungerford

When you visit your dentist, you deserve compassion and clarity. My approach to dentistry was shaped by seeing how often patients feel unheard or rushed in healthcare. Growing up, I watched my dad practice dentistry based on relationships that helped him care for the human behind the smile. I built Smile Innovations the same way, building in meaningful time with you to understand the full picture of your health and how I can best support you. I’m honored to be part of your story.

Sincerely,

Dr. Meghan Hungerford

You Deserve to Be Seen

To us, this means more than seeing the dentist. It means being heard by a dental team that sees you and will never dismiss your concerns. It means looking long and deep enough to understand your concerns and how they’re affecting you, so we can design solutions that support your quality of life.

Meet Our Doctor

Dr. Meghan Hungerford, DDS

Dr. Meghan Hungerford, DDS

Dr. Meghan Hungerford is originally from Manhattan, Kansas. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she was also a member of the women’s soccer team. Dr. Meghan then went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in 2013.

Dr. Meghan strives to provide her patients with quality dental care and is always looking to improve her skills by taking continuing education courses. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Nebraska Dental Association, Lincoln District Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. She is also a part of the International Congress of Implantology.

Along with her staff, Dr. Meghan regularly collaborates with the staff at Hruska Clinic, learning how to manage neck, head, and postural issues with the use of occlusal orthotics and often co-treats patients.

The beauty of a smile goes beyond just teeth, and Dr. Meghan has significant training in facial esthetics. She is proudly among the first providers in the state of Nebraska for CARE Esthetics, offering all-natural facial rejuvenation procedures that combine modern techniques with laser therapy.

Outside of the office, Dr. Meghan enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her husband, Danny, and their 2 boys, Cole and Owen. She also enjoys cheering on the Huskers and being with friends and family.

Meet Our Team

Kris

Kris

Kris has dedicated her career to supporting patient confidence by offering them a welcoming and caring dental experience. She has worked full-time in the dental profession since 1996, spending 11 years at the Dental Implant Center of Beatrice before joining Smile Innovations Dentistry in August 2007.

Originally from Wilber, Nebraska, Kris graduated from Wilber-Clatonia Public Schools in 1982 with an emphasis in business and later attended Lincoln School of Commerce. What she loves most about her role is being part of a small, privately owned practice that puts patients first. Kris believes that patients need to know how much you care before they care how much you know, and she takes pride in helping create healthy, beautiful smiles while fostering a relaxing and supportive atmosphere. She also considers the Smile Innovations team to be the best work family, and feels fortunate to work alongside such a dedicated group of professionals.

In her life outside of dentistry, Kris and her husband of 40 years live on a farm east of Wilber, and have owned and operated Lefty’s Catering since 2004. She enjoys golfing and attending sporting events, especially cheering on the Huskers. You’ll also find her spending time with family and friends, and supporting her grandchildren’s activities.

Kris and her husband are proud parents of two daughters, Chelsey and Taylor, and it’s her grandchildren who make her smile the most.

Elizabeth

Elizabeth "Liz"

As a Dental Assistant, Liz brings a wealth of experience to the team. She has worked in the dental profession since 2006, including almost two decades practicing in North Carolina. She has been part of the Smile Innovations Dentistry team since early 2024. Liz attended Beattie, Irving, and Southeast schools and later dove into general studies at Doane College, where she also played collegiate tennis.

Liz comes from a family deeply rooted in dentistry; her father and two of her siblings are dentists. She enjoys the variety her role in dentistry provides. No two days are ever the same, whether it’s helping restore a patient’s smile or assisting with small but meaningful moments of care. Liz appreciates the opportunity to connect with patients and contribute to their comfort and self-esteem. Watching others smile is what makes her work especially meaningful.

Outside of work, Liz enjoys tennis (which she has played since age 4), biking, spending time outdoors, listening to music, attending concerts, reading, and spending time with friends. She also loves her active family life, playing basketball and spending time with her son. She finds joy in sunny days and in helping others smile.

Angie

Angie

Angie grew up outside of the little town of Filley, Nebraska. After graduating high school from Adams Freeman, she attended the dental assisting program at Southeast Community College in Lincoln. Angie enjoyed 6 years of working as a dental assistant before advancing her dental career. In 2008, Angie graduated from the dental hygiene program at Central Community College in Hastings, Nebraska. After graduation, Angie moved back closer to home and has enjoyed working in general dentistry practices in Lincoln. She is passionate about educating patients, and helping them not only improve their smiles, but also their overall health.

Angie and her husband, Austin are enjoying country life living outside of Cortland, Nebraska. They have three children Brady, Ryan and Britton. When she is not at a sporting event for her kids, she enjoys being active outside including biking, swimming, skiing and traveling with her family.

Angela

Angela

Angela grew up in Larchwood, Iowa, just outside of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She graduated from the University of South Dakota in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Health Science with an emphasis in dental hygiene. Angela has worked in dentistry for 14 years and has been part of the Smile Innovations team for seven years. She enjoys helping patients understand how to care for their teeth and why those daily habits matter. She gains a great deal of satisfaction helping patients improve their home care and feel proud of their progress.

When she’s not at the office, Angela enjoys being outside, going for walks, traveling, spending time with friends, watching movies, reading, and taking care of her family and home. She and her husband, Brandon, have been married for six years and have three daughters: Maesha, Mylene, and Monae. Their family also includes a five-year-old brindle pitbull terrier.

Lisa

Lisa

Lisa was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. After high school, she attended Concordia University in Seward, where she was a member of the cheer team. She then moved back to Lincoln where she attended the dental assisting program at Southeast Community College. Lisa joined the Smile Innovations Dentistry team in October 2020. While working at Smile Innovations, she went back to school part time and earned her Associates Degree in Health Science, graduating the Summer of 2021.

When Lisa is not at the office, she enjoys working out, spending time with friends, and traveling. Lisa also has 2 cats- Ollie and Junie who keep her company.

Emily

Emily

Emily grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska, and has been in the dental field for 11 years. In 2015, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Emily is also trained in local anesthetic, nitrous sedation, and CPR. She joined Smile Innovations Dentistry in April 2026 and already loves the relationships she has built with patients. One of her favorite parts of being a hygienist is helping patients and their families through different stages of life while supporting them in achieving a healthy smile.

In her free time, Emily loves to travel, play golf, spend time at the pool or beach, and try new restaurants. She has been married to her husband, Drew, since 2017, and they have a six-year-old son, a four-year-old daughter, and two dogs, Frank and Rosie. Simply being with her husband and kids is what brings the biggest smile to her face.

Cleo the Therapy Dog

MEET CLEO,
OUR THERAPY DOG

Need a paw of support? How about a snuggle? Cleo is highly trained, doesn’t shed, and is an optional part of your visit. She can’t wait to meet you and help you feel at home.

FAQs

What should I expect at my first appointment?

We pride ourselves on being thorough. Because of this, we reserve approximately 2 hours for a New Patient Appointment. In this time you will meet with one of our hygienists who will take x-rays and photographs, review your medical history and answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding your dental needs. You will meet with Dr. Meghan, who will provide you with a comprehensive oral examination. If there are no signs of periodontal disease that would require a more extensive type of cleaning, the routine cleaning will also be completed at this initial visit. You will leave our office with a written treatment plan which includes all proposed treatment with fees included, a care package with information about our office, and a toothbrush and other dental aides.

Does your office accept my insurance?

As an unrestricted provider, we work with all dental insurance plans. Each offers unique coverage. Please call the office for a complimentary benefits check.

Do you offer payment plans?

We understand finances are a personal matter. For patients with dental insurance, your estimated copay (the portion of your fees that your insurance does not cover) is always due at the time of service. For patients who do not have insurance, the full fee is due at the time of service. We accept cash, check and credit card (VISA, Master Card, Discover, and American Express) to make this as easy as possible. We are not a provider for Nebraska Medicaid.
