Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and bridges are used to replace and strengthen cracked or chipped teeth; or teeth weakened by large fillings.  A crown restores a single tooth, while a bridge restores missing teeth.  Both are permanent restorations, meaning they are not removable by the patient and with proper cleaning will last many, many years.  A crown or bridge can be made entirely of porcelain, cast gold or it can have a gold substructure with porcelain layered over the top to create a white tooth appearance.  The tooth or teeth being restored are shaped for the crown at an initial appointment and impressions are taken to be sent to our lab where the crown is fabricated.  At the following appointment, the crown or bridge is cemented into place.  Our high demand for excellence has led us to use Root Lab located in Kansas City. We have come to realize that all labs are not created equal. Root Lab’s attention to detail is far superior to most and we want only the best for our patients.
